This year alone, Damascus University welcomed more than twenty thousand new undergraduate students, bringing the total number of students to about one hundred and twenty thousand. Additionally, there are nearly sixty thousand students enrolled in open learning system. If nothing else, these numbers indicate the great responsibility laid upon the university and the important role that it plays in overall national development. Nevertheless, it is with great pride that the university accepts this responsibility, with the willingness to stand-up to any challenges that we may encounter. Students of higher education are demanding, as is their right. They, along with the entire nation, expect the university to offer the best possible education for the next generation, in order to service our country's growing development needs.
 
We are doing our best to improve our infrastructure, expand facilities, develop curriculum and update educational techniques. Though there is still a lot of work to be done and obstacles to overcome, we are confident that our university, Damascus University, will remain a bastion of higher education in our region, spreading knowledge and illuminating the paths towards the future.
 
The goal of this website is to shed light on the efforts of Damascus University to realize our national development objectives. Additionally, we hope that this site will be an area for constructive dialogue, clarifying points of view and converging opinions. All of which will enrich Damascus University experience with ideas and visions of the future, opening the way for continued development.
